Colby co-founded The Cooper-Lyon Group after a decade of national and international experience in communications, public relations and operations.
Before launching The Cooper-Lyon Group, Colby served as Research Fellow and Chief of Staff to (former U.S. Secretary of State) Professor Condoleezza Rice at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. As Chief of Staff, he was responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of her office; coordinating long-range scheduling commitments; serving as her spokesperson; and, brokering strategic business arrangements and partnerships.
Prior to transitioning then-Secretary Rice out of government, Colby served as a Senior Advisor to the Secretary of State. In this capacity, Colby advised Secretary Rice on strategic domestic and international public outreach opportunities and aided in the planning and implementation of her major events, as well as her domestic and international travels. Among other highlights, Colby facilitated the Secretary’s historic visit to Libya in September 2008; and, he was a principal planner for the 2007 Annapolis Conference on Middle East Peace.
Before joining Secretary Rice at the Department of State, Colby served as the Director for Communications and Media Relations on the National Security Council at the White House, where he was responsible for long-range foreign policy communications planning and initiative roll-outs. He also facilitated President George W. Bush’s foreign media interviews; traveled internationally with the President; and, coordinated the National Security Advisor’s public appearances and media interviews.
Earlier in his tenure at the White House, Colby served as an Associate Director for Communications and as an Executive and Administrative Assistant to the National Security Advisor. Prior to joining the White House staff, Colby worked on the U.S. government’s Y2K preparedness and monitoring effort.
Colby received his Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Bucknell University, where he also earned two varsity football letters. On October 19, 2007, Colby was honored as Bucknell University’s first recipient of The Young Alumni Award for Distinguished Citizenship. He served on Bucknell University’s Alumni Association Board of Directors from 2007-2008. In December 2010, he was named to Mobile Bay Magazine’s Class of 40Under40. He is a native of Oxford, New York, and resides in Fairhope, Alabama, with his family.
Jaime co-founded The Cooper-Lyon Group after a decade of service as a corporate communications and management consultant.
Before launching The Cooper-Lyon Group, Jaime worked as a consultant for Accenture, where she managed communications for federal clients to include the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Defense Intelligence Agency, Department of Defense and United States Postal Service. Highlights from Jaime’s career at Accenture include planning and executing conferences; leading comprehensive communications efforts to support management restructuring; new financial, case management and business systems; and, developing survey tools.
Prior to Accenture, Jaime worked for a trio of smaller Information Technology companies including Govolution, ITS Services, Inc. and SETA Corporation. At Govolution, she served as a project manager leading start-to-finish implementations of an electronic payment software application for clients such as the Department of the Treasury. Both ITS Services, Inc. and SETA Corporation afforded Jaime the opportunity to serve as an analyst for the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection conducting business alignment reviews for new initiatives and determining the efficacy of current systems at over ten United States ports of entry. Jaime also served as a technical recruiter for SETA Corporation which encompassed full-life cycle recruiting for company openings.
Jaime started her career at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, LLC as a sales and public relations assistant.
Jaime received her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University. During her collegiate years, Jaime also attended Semester at Sea, a study abroad program operated by the Institute for Shipboard Education, which afforded her the opportunity to circumnavigate the world and experience a life-altering learning adventure. Jaime is an active member of the Junior League of Mobile (and former member of the Junior League of Washington) and is a member of the United States Tennis Association. She is a native of Mobile, Alabama, and resides in Fairhope, Alabama, with her family.
